You can call me Sami. I love photoblogs and constantly seek for inspirations from them. Engineer by day, and hobbyist designer when ever I can. I love crafts and paper things. I customize
dolls and dress them up. I adore fine dining with my amazing bf (mm food). And I'm a photo a day kind of person. That's what I'll share here!
Just got back from the Vancouver Gaga Concert. Wow, she’s not what I expected, and I have so much more respect for her now. Amazing performer. And definitely inspirational. I wish I could pull off her blonde/yellow hair lol.
And yeah, I went right after work. Had an hour to create something. Jason ended up finishing the final product for me . It’s so awesome. I’ll create the full dress one day .
I got the wonderful privilege to listen to David Choi sing live in concert last week on his West Coast Tour. Rarely do people come all the way up to Vancouver, so I really appreciate him making the trek up here to sing to us Canadian fans . This makes up for the time I JUST missed him by a sliver at the release party for his music video when I was in LA (the post). I was hoping I’d finally get the CD I bought in LA signed… but sadly, since we were car pooling with others, I couldn’t stay for the pictures and signing. Even so, it was an awesome concert and I loved his awkwardness (maybe it was the drugs he was taking for his cold). Youtube celebrities are just regular people… ‘cept maybe a little cooler lol .
The concert was at The Media Club in Vancouver. We weren’t the first ones to get there. There were probably 20 people that got in before us (they lined up at the door… while we went to eat ramen lol), but when we got there everyone was sitting on the seats along the walls. There were no seats left. So instead we opted to standing dead front and center by the stage. In the end? We had the best view in the entire room! I was probably only 1 meter away from David, face to face. We were so close, that at times I would try not to stare directly at him, in case it would be awkward for him lol. We were THAT close. So close that it was hard for me to find a good angle to take pictures of him from. And as I took multiple shots from different angles, I was wondering what he was thinking lol.
In any case, I got to actually talk with David when he was on stage, take many videos with no obstruction to my view, make random and possibly awkward eye contact with him, sing along with him through many songs, AND (best part) I got the handwritten set list right out of his hands (I asked politely of course… or maybe yelled for it… can’t remember)!! Yey .
Fan girl Sami signing off with some videos! OH! Almost forgot! Can you spot me? I’m on youtube! *Hint I was wearing a bright blue bow headband .
PS. David Choi was an awesome live performer. He was interactive with the crowd, telling us many stories and jokes . I love that he gave little introductions to his songs. I loved everything thing about it, even the little slips and the coughing in between songs. Just made everything more REAL. It’s one of those concerts you go to, where after you see the artist sing live, you appreciate them so much more. And in the week after the concert, you go home and play their cd on repeat just to try to feel the concert again. Yeah. Awesome.
My hair is still curly, so I decided to show off my hat from last night as well . I’d say it was a well deserved reward for my crazy week of school work. Even right before the concert, I was rushing to finish an assignment. But of course I still made myself some time to jazz it up in the hair and make-up department. BUT with the rush… no pictures . I even got a hat to support Mraz’s fondness of hats (even though I’m not much of a hat person). Boo. Oh well. I didn’t run into anyone either. General Admission floor is crazy! The hour before Mraz stepped on stage, Jason and I were getting harsh pushed around haha. But no complaints, cuz with all the push, we somehow shifted closer and closer to the front of the stage. I could see his toes and his black briefs by the end. Mraz was totally hobo for the concert ahah… his hair looked unwashed, his face was unshaven, and he seemed a little tired.
It was still an amazing show last night (amazing live performer), but def not comparable to the epic concert he played last year. The venue just isn’t comparable. The center of performing arts has crazy acoustics, totally amplifying Mraz’s greatness . With the smaller crowd, everything just seemed so much more intimate. He had many moments where he just talked to the audience. One of my favs was his little segment before “If it kills me” (link). Not mentioning how AMAZINGLY he performed that song with that ukulele. I was 110% sure he was going to perform it again this time round… but with much disappointment… no . *Sigh* He seemed to have played more songs last year as well. I also didn’t feel the same beautiful moments. Times when he would catch the audience in complete silence… like this one (link). He sang songs like he was singing them directly to the audience… I don’t know, there was just something there that just… WOW. The simplicity of the stage set and soft purple lighting last time was also much more perfect for photos.
On the topic of photos, it was HECK difficult to take pictures on the floor. Sure you’re like 2 feet away from the artist, but there was def no way I could keep a steady hand… or more like a steady arm stretch. People around me were dancing along with Mraz the whole time too… so you can prob see that in my videos I would sway so much lol. Meh, it was way worth it to be so up close . And overall, I’m still excited that I got the chance to go see the amazing Mraz.
We sang together, we danced together, and he stole our breaths with his voice. *le sigh*
He sang Beautiful Mess… beautifully lol. (this is when I was further back… peering over a tall guy’s shoulder lol. excuse the shakey-ness)
I was front row, center stage!!! OMGosh! HAD to take a video to show proof… probably could have zoomed in more to see his nose hairs… but no haha.
I totally can’t get over this song. So you think you can dance just added to it by giving me such a beautiful image to visualize with the song. The dance gave me goosebumps, made me squeal, made me cry a little inside and made me smile at it’s beauty. They did it justice . Jason Mraz - If it kills me (Casa Nova Sessions). The count down is ON!
